Atelier Andrea Gassner was commissioned by Major Christa Köppel and Cukrowicz Nachbaur Architects to design the wayfinding system in these architects' new building for the retirement and care center in Widnau/CH. This completely new design solution for a tactile orientation system already won first place in the European Design Award, the second place in the ADC Annual Award NY and has now been awarded the gold medal in the “Information Design” category of the international Joseph Binder Award. But even more importantly: with this design Atelier Andrea Gassner has won the prize of prizes. At the official award ceremony of designaustria in the MuseumsQuartier Vienna on March 27, the design was also exclusively awarded the renowned Henry Steiner Prize – out of 896 entries from 40 different countries. Quote from the jury statement: “The project awarded the Henry Steiner Prize was selected for the exceptional quality of the design, which places a clear focus on human relationships and emotional commitment.”
